Our treatments, braces, aligners, and more!

No two smiles are the same and at Nathan Davis Orthodontics, we embrace this! We want to create a treatment plan that addresses YOUR needs and smile goals. We will create this plan to fit you and only you. During your initial consultation, you will meet with Dr. Davis and his team and they will talk to you about your concerns, expectations, and goals. They truly care about making your smile dreams a reality and will listen to the feedback you provide. Then based on that and the results from your oral exam, Dr. Davis will map out the best treatment for you.

At Nathan Davis Orthodontics, patient comfort is also a top priority. We want you to be comfortable with the length of your treatment, the appliance used in your treatment, the amount of care required, and of course the financial aspect too. We will discuss finances in full transparency and put together some custom plans to cover that part as well. We will also present you with a variety of treatment choices including Lingual braces, Invisalign, Sure Smile, Damon Braces, Damon Clear Braces, and traditional metal braces.

Fun Fact

Mummies wore braces! Some mummies have been located wearing crude metal bands wrapped around their teeth.

Invisalign

Dr. Davis is a proud Invisalign provider. This treatment is very popular amongst patients because it does not involve braces. Invisalign works using a set of clear plastic trays to shift your teeth a little bit each week. Invisalign is virtually invisible as the name implies, the trays are also removable which provides additional freedom for the patient to continue their daily routine.

About Invisalign

The Invisalign System combines some of the latest technological developments with classic orthodontic principles to offer you the best results. First, a 3-D scan of your teeth is generated. Dr. Davis then uses these digital 3-D models of your teeth to plan out each micro-movement to get your teeth one step closer to their ideal position. Once the movements are planned, the clear aligners are manufactured using the instructions for your entire treatment. Each aligner is worn for approximately two weeks before moving on to the next aligner in the set until your treatment is complete and you have the smile you have always wanted! It is important to remember that Invisalign is not compatible with every case, to find out if you are a candidate for Invisalign, book a complimentary consultation with Dr. Davis.

Fun Fact

The word “braces” was adopted in the early 1900s. During this time, the most popular material for braces was gold! However, some more budget-conscious orthodontists used wood and ivory.

SureSmile®

SureSmile integrates revolutionary technology into traditional metal braces. Dr. Davis is always looking for ways to optimize his patient’s treatment time. With SureSmile, braces are custom-created to fit your mouth perfectly. This treatment involves scanning your teeth to create a 3-D image of your mouth, teeth, and jawbone to design each adjustment. The detailed movements are planned ahead of time which means that there will be fewer adjustments necessary during your treatment. SureSmile works efficiently to cut down your treatment time because the archwires in your braces are perfectly fitted to do their job. Want to find out more about SureSmile and what it can do for you? Schedule a consultation with Dr. Davis today!

Fun Fact

Adults can get braces too! In fact, the American Association of Orthodontists estimates that over a million adults receive orthodontic treatment in North America in one year.

Damon Braces & Damon Clear Braces

Damon Braces & Damon Clear braces are a trusted brand of braces Dr. Davis works with. Damon Braces are popular amongst his patients because of the great treatment experience and results!

About Damon Bracket

Damon Brackets use a “gate” system to hold the archwire in place, this makes Damon Brackets self-ligating. The “gate” system reduces the amount of friction placed on the teeth and provides a more comfortable experience for the patient. Damon braces are easier to clean than regular braces.

About Damon Clear Bracket

Damon Clear braces feature the same advantages as the original Damon braces because they share the same innovative technology. Damon Clear braces are also self-ligating tieless braces but with one important difference, Damon Clear braces are made of a transparent material. The transparent property makes the braces harder to spot and therefore the patient receives a more discreet experience.

Fun Fact

At any given time, approximately 4 million people in the U.S. have braces on their teeth!

Braces for Children & Teens

When is the best time to begin orthodontics?

Your smile can be enhanced through orthodontic treatment at any age. However, there is an ideal time to receive treatment and see the best results with the least invasive treatments. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children receive an orthodontic screening at the first sign of an orthodontic issue or by the age of 7. Typically, treatment does not begin at age 7 but doing an early screening allows Dr. Davis to identify any potential issues and follow-up until the ideal time to begin treatment comes. If your child is showing any signs of orthodontic problems or is 7 or older and has not been screened, give us a call to set up a complimentary consultation.

What are the benefits of early orthodontic evaluation?

Early evaluation or screening allows a diagnosis to be established at an early age. Since the child is still in development, the growth of the jaw can be guided to prevent or lessen malocclusions later in life. When a child does not need treatment, an early evaluation is still helpful to allow Dr. Davis to monitor growth and development.

Why is age 7 considered the optimal time for screening?

By age 7, most children have mixed dentitions (some permanent teeth and some baby teeth). Typically, children of this age have their first adult molars which establish the back bite. This allows Dr. Davis to evaluate the bite relationships from all angles.

What are the advantages of interceptive treatment?

Interceptive treatment allows Dr. Davis to take advantage of the fact that children’s bones are still growing. Dr. Davis can guide the growth of the jawbone to create room for crowded teeth and create facial symmetry. Doing interceptive treatment helps to reduce the possibility of more invasive procedures and treatments as an adult. The results available with interceptive treatment are often not possible with treatment as an adult. To find out if your child could benefit from interceptive treatment, schedule an initial consultation today!

Phase I & II

Two-phase treatment is a process in orthodontics in which treatment is approached as a 2-part series. The first phase typically begins around the age of 9-11 and this phase of treatment is all about guiding growth to promote the healthiest development. This allows Dr. Davis to create the appropriate space in a narrow jaw and to avoid permanent extractions later in life. Once the first phase of treatment is completed, there is a resting period between phases 1 and 2.

Phase 2 begins after the resting period and typically consists of “fine-tuning” the smile by using braces. Now you may be wondering why you would get two-phase treatment if your child will end up in braces anyhow? The answer is simple, the same level of results cannot be achieved without implementing more invasive treatments such as permanent extractions and even orthognathic surgery.

Are you a candidate for orthodontic treatment?

If you are generally healthy and want to enhance the function and looks of your smile, you are a candidate for orthodontic treatment. Orthodontic treatment enhances the way your smile looks to others but it also enhances the way you chew, clean your teeth, and wear your smile with pride.

Why should malocclusions be treated?

Straight teeth are easier to clean and therefore more likely to stay healthy. Also, if left untreated, malocclusions are likely to get worse and to more severe issues such as tooth decay, gum diseases, crowded teeth, and more. Crossbites can result in uneven growth and tooth wear. Open bites promote tongue-thrusting and can also cause speech impediments to developing. Braces For Adults

Orthodontic treatment in adults is more common than you may think. Adults who are generally healthy, do not have teeth alignment and want to improve their oral health are excellent candidates for braces. We recognize that adults have different needs from children. We embrace the differing needs of adults and work together to address them. At Nathan Davis Orthodontics, we have the right treatment for you! We work with traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, clear braces. lingual braces. Ready to get started? Give us a call at 480-969-8500 to schedule your free orthodontic consultation today!

Technologies

Itero Scanner

The iTero scanner is an innovative digital scanner that allows us to eliminate the need for any uncomfortable impressions. Instead, Dr. Davis will make a scan of your teeth and mouth using a digital scanner. The images are then transformed into three-dimensional digital models to plan out your treatment plan. The entire scan takes approximately eight minutes to complete. Using the digital model, Dr. Davis can show you what your teeth will look like after your treatment plan before even beginning!

Digital X-Rays

At Nathan Davis Orthodontics, we are committed to your health and are always looking for innovative technologies to help us serve you better. We now offer digital x-rays which produce high-quality images without releasing as much radiation as traditional x-rays.

Soft Tissue Laser

As part of staying up to date with the latest technology, we can now announce our soft tissue laser. This laser is for cutting small pieces of tissue to treat patients with periodontal disease, perform gingivectomies, and more! By using the laser, we prevent bleeding, the need for stitches, and it can be done right in our office without the need for an oral surgeon or periodontist.
